Sustainable Agricultural Design and Development
In the world of community resilience, regarding disaster relief, displacement, and development, the protocol uses the same formula across the board, leaving out crucial elements that communities need to thrive. Our design firm brings an inclusive, community-centric approach to neighborhood design and sustainable development. We emphasize community care and cultural preservation while using ancestral and modern technology to create tools for climate change mitigation and community resilience. We design indoor and outdoor centers for growth, community displacement and neighborhood sustainability.
Our work has been replicated across the City of Detroit and where communities have become vulnerable. Vulnerabilities include and are not limited to, housing insecurity, natural disasters, human-made disasters, economic collapse, and food systems collapse.
Examples of our work include:
Traditional and Therapeutic gardens for kitchen and backyard use
Interconnected community, business, or school gardens linked to food-share programs.
Edible Parks
Community Gardens on reclaimed lots and in vacant spaces
Year-round markets with spaces for small businesses to reside and showcase their products. Each market is equipped with a grow space that can be tailored to grow culturally relevant foods in every community.
Farm stands for food storage and processing for new and existing CSA’s.
We work with community sponsors and partners, such as:
Partners and City and state-wide initiatives who desire to build spaces that can be used to support community initiatives for those who are housing and food insecure, displaced, or otherwise in need of community-based support.
Institutions needing fresh produce for farm to school programs.
Neighborhoods and organizations looking to start food-share programs.
Shelters looking to provide fresh food for the individuals and families they serve.
Small business alliances and food and farming cooperatives looking for collective office space.
Food banks and pantries wanting to provide fresh produce along with non-perishable items.
Sustainable designers, architects, and contractors looking to reshape access for the City of Detroit.
