Fenn Farms Centers for Sustainable Growth

Cost is Design Based

Here, we go beyond providing just individual grow spaces. Our profits go directly into the building and hosting of shared economic spaces rooted in agriculture. We use our resources to:

  1. Build and support the rooting interconnected community gardens linked to food-share programs in communities left behind by food apartheid.

  2. Build year-round markets with spaces for small businesses to reside and showcase their products. Each market is equipped with a grow space that can be tailored to grow culturally relevant foods in every community.

  3. Build farm stands for food storage and processing for new and existing CSA’s. In this way, we can support communities in using the land they do have to regain agency in the food system and create legacies.

  4. We work with community sponsors and partners to build spaces that can be used to support community initiatives for those who are housing and food insecure, displaced, or otherwise in need of community-based support.

We work with community sponsors and partners, such as:

  • City and state-wide initiatives for displaced families and individuals

  • Schools needing fresh produce for their food programs

  • Neighborhoods and organizations looking to start food-share programs

  • Shelters looking to provide fresh food for the individuals and families they serve

  • Small business alliances and food and farming cooperatives looking for collective office space

  • Food banks and pantries wanting to provide fresh produce along with non-perishable items

  • Sustainable designers, architects, and contractors looking to reshape access for the City of Detroit.

Please Note:

We offer grow space design and sustainably designed spaces for community growth. There is work similar to ours being done across the city, but the difference in our work lies in our commitment to the people living in the communities we serve across Detroit. We are not developers who build for our pockets and those we wish to attract to our great city, but instead, we practice community investment tailored to those who already live in and love the city of Detroit. In this way we work to create access and build true community resilience in our development. Our commitment is to the people of Detroit, our livelihoods, and our futures.
